WASHINGTON, DC, August 20, 2025 – Following this week’s lawless actions by the Trump Administration revoking the security clearances of 37 current and former intelligence officials through an Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) memo, Andrew P. Bakaj, Whistleblower Aid’s Chief Legal Counsel and a former CIA officer, issued the following statement:
“Attempts by this Administration to masquerade a politically motivated purge of Intelligence Community professionals as being in the interest of our national security is disingenuous at best and illegal at worst. Either way, it is both repugnant and profoundly damaging.
Let’s be clear: the execution of this memo not only denies every public servant on this list their due process rights, but also violates the Privacy Act of 1974.
Our democracy cannot function if our national security professionals are forced to choose between doing their jobs with integrity and fidelity to the Constitution or blindly executing the orders of a vindictive President to prove their loyalty.”
