WASHINGTON, May 5, 2025 – Whistleblower Aid co-founder, Mark Zaid has launched a lawsuit today challenging the Trump administration’s vengeance-based revocation of his security clearance.
In response, Whistleblower Aid CEO Libby Liu released the following statement supporting Mark:
“Mark Zaid is challenging President Trump’s retaliatory revocation of his security clearance as not only a crucial step in fighting for his rights, but in fighting back against this administration’s increasing weaponization of the US government against those fighting for transparency and accountability. For the decades Mark has held a security clearance, he has acted in good faith to expose wrongdoing and to hold powerful bad actors to account, regardless of their political party.
Mark’s role as an attorney representing some of the most crucial whistleblower cases in US history, like the whistleblower who exposed Trump’s extortion scheme of Ukraine in 2019, has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with due process and facilitating public access to the truth. Representing whistleblowers is what Mark does and what he has done under every presidential administration for over thirty years.
“Retaliation has no place in the democratic process and we expect Mark’s challenge against the Trump administration to establish that the president cannot weaponize his office to threaten, intimidate or punish our fellow citizens simply because they are viewed as perceived adversaries.”
